Growthrings - live at Vibra Berlin 2025 (V55)

On this document of a performance from the Vibra Festival in 2025, Berlin’s Growthrings manifests a dreamlike incantation so haunting and alchemical it feels more like a transmission divined via seance rather than anything communicated on this earthly realm.

These mellifluous incantations fluctuate between a whisper-like sussuration and a tempestuous flood of volume and fervor, seemingly bypassing any cognizant or orthodox patterns of assemblage and emanating purely from the subconscious. It gives this performance a truly delirious and elemental quality, evoking within it’s modernist/abstract/experimental framework the tradition of keening, an unrestrained outpouring of raw emotion with no thought to where it’s sound will land.

Growthrings utilises this palette like water, flowing from the performer to the listener, unregulated and uncontainable, messy and disordered, leaving its mark but never fixed, an apparition that is guided only by it’s own compulsions.

"Half-asleep, you hear mysterious music playing behind the wall. You lean in — a scattering of timbres drifts, seemingly random and unconnected, like those glitchy memories you carry your whole life for no apparent reason. Slowly, patterns begin to emerge: melodies whisper, tensions respond to one another, hints of meaning appear. Somehow, you recognise the song, even though it is the first time you hear it. A fleeting moment of clarity; a gentle, luminous recognition, before the sound dissolves into open space again, airy and free."
