HOODWINKS - MANHOLE ELEGIES (V40)

HOODWINKS is a Nottingham-based project bringing together Drew M Jadowski (aka BLACKCLOUDSUMMONER) and Peter J Woods, two exceptional artists who have between them carved out formidable and profuse bodies of work for labels like Oxen, No Rent, FTAM, Outsider Art and Eggy Tapes to name very few.

On ‘Manhole Elegies’ their singular approaches weld together with a caustic compatibility, featuring two expansive, side long tracks; ‘Infinity Gram’ finds them both unleashing a cascade of turbulent, roiling discord from the start, churning itself into a morass of thundering and dyspeptic textures, before the wall is breached and the chaos billows out into expansive, dub-like space. ‘Natural Body Magic’ features a twitchier, more frantic and sinewy palette, dipping its toe into atonal drone and agitated feedback, punctuated throughout by intervals of scalding noise.

‘Manhole Elegies’ is a mighty and menacing release which confidently stands alongside both artist’s own respective works, a declaration of clear eyed intent within its strife and tumult.
