petrichor - Fortune (V48)

Nottingham’s petrichor follows up a smattering of sonically punishing and conceptually formidable releases with ‘Fortune’, a blistering half hour long statement of intent that confirms petrichor as one of the UK’s most significant harsh noise artists right now.

Sheets of agitated, prickly noise cascade and crash throughout ‘Fortune’, intermittently punctuated by glottal, sinewy intervals. It’s a barbed wire spider’s web of vituperative high-end screeds, eroded textural beds and twitchy, never-settling shards of dyspeptic screech and grind.

‘Fortune’ doesn’t let up throughout its 30 minute duration, it’s a track in perpetual motion and collapse, churning and roiling with no abatement. It stands as a definitive, confident declaration of intent by petrichor, exhibiting the frenzied and relentlessly kinetic directions harsh noise can take if sculpted with both keen precision and reckless abandon.
