PITCHBLACKWOMB - UNCEASING ANGER (V41)

Spanish aural sorceress PITCHBLACKWOMB has produced a staggering testament to elegiac, chasmal, aching darkness and vehemence with ‘Unceasing Anger’.

Comprised of two long-form pieces, the mood is set immediately on ‘HYADES’ as a surge of voluminous, abyssal sound roars to the foreground, at times billowing and thundering, other times prickly and agitated, as each finely-tuned texture morphs and mutates throughout, never resting and always contorting into new chimerical forms. ‘ALECTO’ intermittently summons an ominous tolling before it’s subsumed by a wave of sepulchral turbulence, which also then recedes into a staggeringly delicate and mournful tableau. But however solemn and threnodial it becomes, the threat of it all inevitably collapsing into corrosive, scathing noise is never far away.

‘Unceasing Anger’ is a pure expression of existential foreboding combined with strident hostility. This is a work born of deep sadness and galvanising fury and PITCHBLACKWOMB consolidates these components with the skill of true alchemist.
