Total Dissolution - Split Opposition (V61)

Following his debut release ‘Als Ein Brandopfer’ and outstanding three-way collaboration with smr.tni and Rhizome Weaver, both released on the impeccable Silken Heart Records, Total Dissolution makes a stop at Venalism with ‘Split Opposition’, a crushing study into saturated, blown-out dynamics and economical, no-bullshit brevity.

The obliterating buzz and howling turbulence is constant throughout these 8 untitled tracks. Whether experienced as a whole or one at a time, the sense of consistent, agitated forward motion and compulsively abrasive utilisation is breathtaking. This is raw, scathing noise delivered at light speed with no time or motion wasted.

For all that Total Dissolution doesn’t garnish his relentless cacophony is any tangental embellishment, what he does with such as austere palette is still staggering. Tracks will ricochet from submerged waves of pulverising grind to prickly, over-caffeinated barrages of light-speed cacophony, all typically within the space of a few seconds. There’s no mood-building here, no lingering on any textural components, ‘Split Opposition’ instead is an eruption of furiously turbulent, relentlessly impatient and beautifully ferocious noise.
