White Cicada - 切腹 (V33)

White Cicada has an atypical and even antithetical approach to noise making by combining both the terrifyingly elemental and achingly emotional; ferocious screeds of blown-out sound are counter-intuitively imbued with a sense of grace and an almost romantic, melancholic reflection.

As well as deftly integrating these divergent elements, “切腹” as a whole unifies it’s tracks into a coherent and evolving release-long narrative; from the stark, exposed beginnings of opener and title track “切腹” to it’s furious, wide-screen conclusion on ‘ライト-ダーク’, White Cicada lets the noise and emotion build and develop from track to track, creating a fully-realised, overwhelming conceptual achievement that is as sonically ferocious as it is emotionally momentous.
